Your talents were enjoyed by everybody. The music, the props, your easy and professional manner were felt throughout. I was proud to have invited you for the event. I also appreciate the time you took after the performance to show my son a few card tricks. Thanks again! Yisroel Yaffa, M.D. Beit Knesset Eitz Chaim Beit Shemesh Dear Josh, Thank you very much for donating your time to the Jerusalem Post Charitable Funds Pesach Handicrafts Fair. Your Juggling and entertainment brought an added lively dimension to the fair. May You go from strength to strength! Sincerely, Marcia Goldlist Hi Chaim, What's up? Long time no speak. I'm happy to hear your wife's new school job is off to a good start. About your question as to where to find a good magician for the school's Purim party, you've asked the right guy. As you know my wife and I opened a new store in Yerushalayim, thank G-d its going ok. For the grand opening we wanted to have something special to entertain the children. The problem was that we also wanted to keep all the adults interested as well, and two separate entertainers was just too expensive. We asked around and there was one name that just about every one mentioned. JOSH PHAFF. I was nervous to make the original call, because as you know, my Hebrew is not that great. Well, guess what? He speaks perfect English without an Israeli accent. Now I was nervous the other way. How was this American Yankee going to entertain my Israeli crowd? I certainly was surprised to learn that he speaks perfect Hebrew also without that nerdy American accent. He was such a pleasure to deal with on the phone; funny, courteous, friendly, and sincerely interested in making my grand opening the best ever. (Not just talking about the money like those other guys.) The really nice way he spoke on the phone I thought I was his first customer ever. (It was only later that I found out that this guy does 4 shows a week!) So I knew he was a nice guy but could he put on show? I was nervous (to impress Israeli kids is not so easy). Well, was I in for a surprise. It turns out that not only is he a magician but also a world-class juggler. I'm talking everything from eggs to knives to fire. Holy Smokes!! He was so amazing!! He had total control of the crowd, both children and adults, from the beginning to the end. Switching constantly from Hebrew to English, with a dash of Yiddish he kept everybody mesmerized for the full hour. The only problem was, he was so good that everyone just watched him and didn't come into the store to buy anything! It was a great advertisement anyhow. After the show he spoke nicely to all the kids and gave them all of his attention. I then paid him the amount of money that we made up from the start - with none of those extra fees. The way I'm talking about him you probably think he's my good friend from ten years ago. Well guess what? I just met the guy by the show, and no I'm not being paid to write this either. All in all I think this guy is massive and he'll do a great job. His phone # is 054-474-8425. Tell him I say hello. In any case, I wish your wife good luck with the new school job and with the Purim party. Say hello to Mark for me. B'Hatzlacha, Dovid Dear Josh, Words cannot describe your wonderful work that you have brought to the hospitals. Many thanks and warm remarks have been heard from the children who continue smiling long after your performance. The hospital staff has expressed much appreciation to how you have succeeded in bringing color and happiness to the childrens department to which at times can be very dark and gloomy. There is no better way to share your skills with others, than bringing smiles to hospitals. B'Hatzlacha! Moshe Weiss February 2008 Dear Josh,
Exclusive Kosher Events London 5/5/2006 Dear Josh, Thank You so much for the wonderful performance you put on for our Pesach Program in the Jerusalem Pearl hotel. It was fun, exciting, kosher entertainment that was an all around success! Though the audience was of very mixed ages – you kept everyone enthralled. Our clients young and old enjoyed every minute. The way you skillfully incorpotated juggling together with magic and audience participation greatly added to the fantastic atmosphere that you created. Though you were one of many different performers on our program – you were by far the most popular. It was a pleasure working with you from beginning to end. Thumbs up to you! Raizy Kuperwasser Jerusalem, 7.5.06 To whom it may concern: Mr. Joshua Phaff was employed by a private family fund to go and entertain the children in the children’s ward at Bikur Holim Hospital in Jerusalem. I cannot emphasize how much joy he brought to the children and their parents. Joshua has an unusual ability to communicate with everybody and instantly find a common language with people, be it ultra-orthodox patients, Arab patients, or anybody else hospitalized. He is extremely flexible and can, within a few seconds, adjust to completely different kinds of people. Even the people who were at first more skeptical, were soon won over by his charm and his love of people, which shines through in everything he does. I witnessed Joshua several times “in action” and was always very impressed by his professionalism together with his approach to people. As Josh rightly claimed: “The parents need as much entertainment as the children”. Josh would go up to every parent, to the nurses and doctors, the cleaning staff and whoever was around, and would put a smile on their faces for a few minutes. Everybody would have a change to see a trick with balls, cards, strings, and whatever he manages to stuff under his hat or in his pockets. Josh was also very reliable, always showed up on time, never forgot to come to a hospital session and always made sure to be in touch and give me an update about his latest visit at the hospital. I can recommend Joshua Phaff for any entertainment job. He will bring smiles, joy and a sense of true caring to any assignment. Sincerely, Dina Herz May 9,2006 To whom it may concern, Kedma, an International Student Organization (www.kedma.org) offers special training sessions for its Medical Clown interns who volunteer in the hospitals on a weekly basis. Josh gave two training refresher courses to help the students improve their medical clowning skills. In the first course he taught the students unique magic tricks and in the second course he taught them juggling techniques. Josh gave additional valuable tips and suggestions on how students should relate to patients in the hospitals and make the most out of their visits. On behalf of Kedma, I would like to thank Josh for his enthusiastic teaching abilities and his informative entertaining courses. Adena Kozak Dear Josh, We thank you so much for your recent wonderful two performances here in Rehovot, for the school age boys and one for the girls. The children laughed, cheered and shouted. The parents who were in attendance also had a fun time and were so happy to see such clean, appropriate family style entertaining in your enthusiastic and energetic style! Our recommendations go out to any one or organization that is looking for a quality program with positive results. We hope to be able to utilize your skills again in the near future. May you and your family be blessed with a year of success and good health in all your endeavors. Mrs. Debbie Tulkoff To whomsoever it may concern, At the end of August 2004 Josh Phaff performed a juggling and magic show for us at our J.E.L.L.Y. (AACI) Ice-Cream Party-a special annual end of summer event in English. Children were invited to bring book lists and participate in activities in English with a live performance as the special event. Josh had been warmly recommended to us and I was responsible for contacting him. He was enthusiastic and very pleasant to deal with. His attitude is responsible and appreciative and I was struck by his amenable nature. For example we had originally agreed on a outside performance and at the last minute circumstance meant we had to move inside. He was very accommodating .We were also uncertain about numbers but he was completely non-plussed ,(there were about 80 children and their parents). Josh came on time and caused minimal disturbance set up very independently and considerately. As to his show he managed the mixed age audience skillfully and was very well received .He had a variety of acts and involved some children who he invited to participate in his tricks. He kept everyone enraptured and really gave the impression that he was enjoying himself too. Feedback since has been very enthusiastic and several people asked for his contact details. We would like to wish Josh success in future performances. Yours faithfully, Deborah Lionarons, on behalf of the JELLY committee Bar/Bat Mitzvah Top Of Page January 3, 2008 Dear Josh, Over Succoth, when we celebrated our daughter Isabel's Bat Mitzvah at Shalva we had the pleasure of having you provide our entertainment there. You arrived well before the party to set up and you began entertaining as soon as even a small group of people crowded around you. Your tricks were funny, interesting and all pretty amazing! You were able to intrigue all audiences - young and old alike, the challenged children of Shalva, and you were especially patient with our young son who was eager to be at your side almost the entire time. Your happy demeanor made you a pleasure to work with. We highly recommend your services to anyone interested in juggling and magic shows. Good luck on your future jobs and perhaps we'll see you next time we're in Israel! Sincerely, Nicole Dicker New York 5/9/08 Just to say a BIG thank you for keeping our guests so well entertained during the Bar and Bat Mitzvah party at Ramat Rachel last week during our visit to Israel- we really appreciate all the fantastic magic you did- the kids are still talking about it & it was really enjoyed by all! "Yehoshua Phaff performed at a bar mitzvah which took place in our home in Arzei HaBIra, Jerusalem in February 2005. I feel that it was largely because of him that the event was the wonderful success it was. He created a fantastic atmosphere of joy, laughter, and celebration. I had been worried that for boys of this age, a clown wouldn't be interesting enough, but Yehoshua Phaff was an absolute pro. He knew exactly how to lovingly engage every single kid. I was so glad we found him. I enthusiastically recommend Mr. Phaff. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give him a 10." S. Shapiro Birthdays/Parties Top Of PageJuly 2007 We wanted a way to liven up a surprise get together for my Mother's birthday and to make sure the grandchildren would be entertained as well. Josh Phaff's magic show was PERFECT!! - he had the adults as entertained as the children. He was prompt, efficient, and professional, not to mention funny and extremely talented. Thank you Josh for making Omie's party a memory we will all share for years to come. Nediva Mishkin Har Nof, Jerusalem Josh's performance at our parents' 50thanniversary party enthralled young and old alike. His magic, juggling and humor combined to enhance a memorable occasion. We enthusiastically recommend Josh for your next simcha. -The Fabian Family B'hatzlacha, September 1, 2008
Josh, I wanted to thank you for the wonderful entertainment you provided at the joint birthday party of my six-year-old twins, Eitan and Yoni, and their friends Uriel and Eitan, also six, this past summer. It's never easy to find something that will keep a horde of kids mesmerized for almost an hour, but you managed to do just that. Your show was fun not only for the children but for the adults as well.
Given that the party was held in the park near our house in Baka, I was particularly grateful that you welcomed all the kids playing there. This feeling of inclusiveness was important to us, the parents, because some of the kids in the park come from disadvantaged families and your show was a particular treat for them.
I am also grateful that you honored my request to perform only "safe" magic. All too often, at malls and public events, magicians perform tricks with fire and sharp objects, never considering that young, impressionable children might not heed the words "don't try this at home!" Since their birthday party Eitan and Yoni have fallen love with the idea of being a magician and proudly show us their "tricks." It's great fun for them. Finally, you made Eitan and Yoni, Uriel and Eitan feel it was their special day while never ignoring the other kids.
In short, kol ha'kavod. Many thanks!

Workshop and Magic School Top Of PageOur son did a juggling chug with Josh six years ago. He still juggles and enjoys it very much. As a 12 year old boy he put on a STAR performance at his sister's wedding. It has done a tremendous amount for his self confidence and coordination. I work in special ed. with a type of physical/occupational theropy using multi-sensory integration and different types of "intelligence." One of the skills that I work on with my students is a skill called "multitasking." The skill of reading, for example, is very complex and taken for granted. To see a letter with the vowel and the letter next to it with it's vowel in the context of the word, in the context of the phrase, etc, demands a great deal of processing in a few moments. One term that is used for this type of exercise is called "Brain Gym." Juggling is an activity that is an advanced form of Brain Gym and will transfer over into other areas in a child's life and thinking patterns. It is also fun (so he will do it), kosher, and safe. As parents, we were also concerned about the personality of the person giving the chug. We always found Josh to be pleasant, friendly, appropriate and a good influence. Nachum B. Josh is very enthusiastic and professional with his work. He is dedicated, amicable and a real pleasure to work with . Yehudah S. Weddings Top Of Page3/2/08 |
